What you will do

Client is a top tier Global tech company working within and supporting the infrastructure Vendor Management Team.  

Job Responsibilities  

  • Independently analyze data, conduct research and develop plans for inclusion in future state road-mapping, build/maintain data infrastructure (reporting layer data pipelines, reports, alerts).  
  • Design, build and support data visualization, utilize in-house and third-party tools to identify trends, patterns, and provide insights into efficiency.  
  • Ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.  
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with effective time management skills. 
  • Take, with minimal supervision, a request from initial requirements gathering to final solution.  
  • Development of end-to-end data solutions, including understanding of matching real-world business requirements to data, creation of datasets, visualization of data, testing of end-to-end solutions, and presentation of the solutions to clients.  
  • Ability to work with ambiguous requests in an exciting, challenging, and dynamic workplace.  
  • Ability to choose appropriate technical tooling.  
  • Build robust and scalable solutions.  
  • Ability to story-tell through visualization.  
  • Ability to create an uncomplicated visualization from complex data.  
  • From a data and visualization perspective, implement appropriate automation, scheduling, and alerting.  
  • Implement permissions-based visualization solutions.  
  • Ability to create reliable and production-ready solutions.  
  • Ability to appropriately handle enhanced freedom in terms of technical options to complete the job.  
  • Manage the client in terms of expectations, delivery, and work presentation.  

What you should bring

Education/Experience  

Essential:  

  • Strong SQL, a minimum of 4 years’ SQL experience.  
  • A minimum of 4 years’ data analysis & reporting experience.  
  • 4 years’ experience with at least one industry standard visualization tool, e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Looker, etc.  

 

Relevant Experience:  

  • A strong track record of bringing about real improvements on the foot of data solutions, e.g. cost savings, efficiency improvements, data quality enhancement, revenue creation, etc.  
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience in data querying, data segmentation, and dataset creation.  
  • Strong knowledge of advanced SQL techniques such as complex joins, multi-set data, normalization, relational data modelling, data aggregation, OLAP methods, dataset testing, handling large datasets, data transformation, etc.  
  • Knowledge of data engineering and SQL-adjacent technology, e.g. ETL, data pipelines, staging tables, data lakes, playpen (sandbox) management, etc.  
  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence strategies/design as it relates to data analysis.  
  • Understanding of the interplay between dataset creation, database development, and visualization solution.  
  • Ability to exercise good engineering judgement in terms of trade-offs between dataset creation and associated BI development.  
  • Ability to design visualization dashboards end-to-end, i.e. create datasets, build, productionize dashboards.  
  • Hands-on experience with the development of data visualization tools, and ability to choose one visualization tool over another depending on the technical environment or business needs.  
  • Ability to align a data and visualization strategy with business requirements and technical landscape.  
  • Understanding of visualization technique, e.g. dynamic measures, dashboard parameterization, variable creation, etc.  
  • Understanding of databases in how they relate to data analysis and visualization, e.g.  relational, associative, etc.  
  • Understanding of database design in order to extract information to create a dataset. 
  • Experience of combining data from different source systems into one reconciled dataset, including appropriate merging of data and data transformation for a seamless downstream visualization.  
  • A degree with a focus in Data Science, Maths, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics, or equivalent.
